Life after home schooling, now what? Well, if you have spent all the years home schooling your children through high school and now they are off to college, you might just be facing a variety of thoughts.
Remember the days when all you could get done, was to slip breakfast on the table, clear it, do dishes, set up school work and rush into your schooling? Well they are long gone, now!
These are the days we talked about, when so fast the time would fly that you would feel as though you had had no time at all to build into these loved ones, the principles you want for them to hold dear!
Now, as you look into the eyes of your young adults and see what is looking back at you, you give thanks, for not giving up! You stuck by your guns and though others attempted to push their beliefs about home schooling on you, you continued to believe in the fact that if God trusted them into your care, who were you to doubt your ability?
Though we get tempted at times to suffer from the empty nest syndrome, we know nothing has really changed, we’ll still be giving advice for the next few years (unless you are like me, who, though my oldest has been out of school for twenty years, I keep on giving advice, I am certain she needs it!).
This is a tad different however, in that they are now displaying all the attributes you instilled in them, not sitting wide eyed and awed at the teaching you are giving (or, wait a minute, did they ever sit wide eyed and awed at your training?). You get the picture however, now is the great return of your labors!
No empty nest syndrome, no missing what was, just a continual focus on what is to come! Sit and be amazed that God used you in the life of this creation of His, you will live on through the selfless output you have instilled in these beautiful creatures that really belong to Him.
